1st grade Anna Blatman inspired Floral Paintings

The kids marveled at the transparent effects of two Kwik Stix colors overlapping. One student called it “glass colors,” and I understood the connection to transparent glass.

This Anna Blatman floral painting project was so much more successful in 1st grade vs kindergarten. Thanks to Hillary Green at Mrsgreenartbaby on Instagram for sharing this project.

I demoed how to create the flowers, stems, leaves, and a vase of water. Then I set them loose to create their art.

I was so surprised that this turned out to be a one day project. An optional last step was to attach your finished flower paintings to an 18”x12” piece of construction paper to frame it. Enjoy!
