Bio

julia picHi!  I’m Mrs. Forsyth.  I’ve always loved art for as long as I can remember.  I got my degree in art from Baylor and have been a professional painter and printmaker for several years.

When my husband and I started our family and had 2 fantastic boys, they taught me how awesome kids can be.  Then I started thinking how cool it would be to combine  the 2 things I love the most – art and kids – together for a career.

I got my alternative teaching certification in 2012 and have been so lucky to teach art at Slaughter Elementary, McNeil Elementary, and Burks Elementary plus summer art camps at The Art House in McKinney, Texas.  Every child is an artist.  How awesome it it to have a job helping students make their own discoveries through art?!  And make art every day – woohoo!

I’m a member of the National Art Teacher’s Association (NAEA) and have been to 3 national conventions – NYC, Chicago, and Ft. Worth.  I’m also a member of the Texas Art Educator’s Association (TAEA) and have been to the Dallas convention.

I’ve learned so much from other art teachers posting their projects online, so I wanted to keep it going.  Some of my favorite art projects that we’ve created at my school recently are on this website or will be soon – stay tuned. Thanks for joining us on our art adventures!
